Sometimes you can start a design project, you get all your wireframing done, then you get to the fun stage of your design project, bringing the design to life in a Photoshop mockup. Now you have added in positions for icons in your wireframe and you have set the tone of the design, but you don’t have the skills to create the icons yourself, or you just want to find something quick and easy…ahh Ill just download some icons to use. Great, now where do I start!?
Well usually I keep a local repository of icons that I may need for current or future projects. But sometimes it can take ages to find the icons I really want to use, this can cause a fair few headaches, as there is a lot of time wasted by unzipping icon package files and looking through to find if any will suit what you need.
Now the headaches have been given a remedy, a remedy in the form of a great little website called Find Icons. Find Icons is a great website that allows you to browse icon packs or even search for particular icons by searching for keywords related to the icon your looking for, such as shopping. Another great feature to their search is an autocomplete function that helps you narrow down your search.

Among the other features on the website they provide options to convert icons from and to any formats you need, a membership section that allows you to build your own collections, as well as an Excite Me section that is like a random icon pack generator.
One of the only downsides I could see, from my quick review of the website is that you can only download icons individually, not as a whole pack. Although there is a members section, there may be the options later for members to download the entire icon pack.
Find Icons looks to be a great website for finding the icons you need for future projects, so add it to your resources or favourites, I’m sure you will find yourself searching it to find some useful icons, which there are plenty of, and the list is growing.
